A penalty try following the destruction of the Llandovery scrum, and a long penalty from Ryan Evans gave Ebbw a 10-5 half time lead. They dominated a first half in which the Drovers barely left their own territory. The howling gale from the West, which drove squalls of rain, looked as if it would rescue the home team in the second half. Their plan was simple: pin Ebbw deep in their own 22, force them to kick to touch,  then set up their powerful driving maul. They reckoned without Corey Talbot and Ashley Sweet who wrecked just about every Llandovery line out. They also reckoned without Ebbw’s defensive ferocity and keep-ball determination. Llandovery’s only score came after they knocked on under pressure at a line out and charged down the attempted clearance kick. Jack Maynard’s conversion effort drifted wide, and his late 55m penalty attempt fell short. Ebbw managed the game brilliantly for the last 10 minutes, keeping the game as far up field as possible.

In a superb team performance,  special mention must go to Dawid Rubasniak whose engine just never stopped.
