Ebbw Vale finished the regular season with a comfortable 16-0 win at Cardiff to give them the double over the capital city club. Jordan Howells, continuing the scintillating form that earned him the Man of the Match award at llanelli last weekend, scored both tries for his side. Fellow centre Carl Meyer – named Man of the Match by the Cardiff sponsors – got the ball rolling with a monster penalty from inside his own half and Iain Smerdon followed with a well struck kick of his own. Howells’ first try, that came after some superb play by Chris Thomas, Ashley Sweet and Rhys Clarke made the score 11-0 at the interval. His second came 10 minutes before the end of the match.
The win meant that Ebbw are now unassailable in second place and will have home advantage in the play off semi-final against Cross Keys.
